At the beginning of the season almost everyone would tell you the best teams in the NBA were the Lakers and Cavs. Some might have even thrown Denver in there. It’s why I couldn’t excited about my favorite basketball team, the Dallas Mavericks.

Every time I saw a game and a Mavericks victory, my excitement was always kept in check by one statement. The Mavericks are not better than the Lakers.

Now, everything is different. The Mavericks made what looks to be a brilliant trade and have become one of the premier teams in the league once again. Dallas should be in the conversation in the best team in the league especially after wins against the Lakers and Hawks.

Enough of those excuses LA.

Maybe Josh Howard really was the bad apple on the team. I’m not saying Howard was all negative, but even a little can kill the spirit of a team. The Mavericks certainly have the swing in their step now.

Usually, it takes time for a team to gel with new team members. Not so with the Mavericks.

The new acquisitions were thrown into the fire early and succeeded.

All aboard the Mavericks train. It’s going a long ways.
