After sitting here watching a great hockey game between the USA and Canada, I can’t help but wonder what happened to good hockey in Dallas? I remember the years when Dallas was one of the best teams in the league, going to the Stanley Cup twice in a row.

I think there are a lot of reasons, but I think it might start at the top. Tom Hicks is bankrupt. He has already sold the Texas Rangers, and now it’s time to sell the Dallas Stars too.

Mark Cuban even talked about buying a share of the Stars. Who knows how much influence the NHL has on the teams’ plans. The Stars are in financial woes.

Regardless of whether Mr. Hicks can afford the team or not, there’s a dark cloud over the Dallas Stars. There isn’t anything to get excited about in Dallas when your team goes to overtime and loses every time. What happened to the big names and stars in the NHL?

I love Mike Modano, but he’s about to retire after a long and Hall of Fame career.

That doesn’t mean hockey is dead in Dallas though. There are plenty of fans and good teams in the area, just not the Dallas Stars.

I’m actually a huge hockey fan and will watch a good hockey game, but it’s rough watching a bad team. Good hockey is awesome to watch, but bad hockey is brutal.

There just isn’t that much good hockey on when the best games are on NBC and ESPN once a week.

I await the day when the Dallas Stars will be watchable again, because hockey is one of the greatest sports to watch.
