I think it’s safe to say spring is finally here in Dallas, and that can only mean one thing. It’s the best time of the year for sports fans. The warmer weather means sports are returning for a new season. Nascar is back. Golf is back, although without Tiger. Football has the draft hype, and it’s during primetime this year.

There’s truly something for every sports fan, and for me baseball is back.

The swing of the bat and ball hitting the glove means the warm temperatures are here. Most people associate warmer weather preceding baseball, but I think the opposite.

Baseball brings the warm weather.

This year is turning out to be the most excited I’ve been in years when it comes to baseball. I can afford to go to more games, and the Texas Rangers are legitimate contenders, with pitching no less. Money use to be an issue making the trip from Denton to Arlington, but now there are no excuses.

In 2008, I got a chance to have a private lunch with Rangers GM Jon Daniels. I can’t remember exactly the questions I asked him, but I certainly remember the answers. He flat out told me 2010 is the year things change happens. I’ve been telling Ranger fans every day since then.

The year is 2010 and Mr. Daniels has done nothing since then to change my mind. It might have been that day I really became a Jon Daniels fan, and anchored my fandom with the Rangers. Let’s face it wasn’t easy over the last decade.

Although, I’m not getting my hopes up for a World Series Championship this year, it would be a disappointment if they didn’t get close. The hype and excitement is spilling out from the players and management, and that really makes me ecstatic as a fan.

I have a theory that until the Rangers at least make the playoffs no Dallas sports team will win a championship. If my theory, turns out the 2010 season could be pandemonium for the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.

Baseball is here, and let’s enjoy the ride for another great season.
