Why the Rays are good for Baseball

This is the first year where a team with both youth and inexperience has managed to succeed all the way to the end. Nobody saw the Tampa Bay Rays having as much success as they have had, even though many predicted a breakout season.

Its in that regard this team deserves mentioning for a long time regardless of what happens in the World Series.

The Rays pitching staff seemed to be falling apart at the end of the season, or at the very least becoming inconsistent. The great young pitching staff was struggling.

Still, the Rays were able to win games because of a surprisingly great offense and managed to hold on for the division and made it to the playoffs for the first time in history. Once the team made it to the postseason, the team came back together which made them so good during the regular season.

It’s easy to see, just take a look at the playoffs. On the few days where the Rays pitching isn’t there, the offense is able to step up and simply score runs.

It’s not possible to shut down a few hitters like most teams because almost anyone on the Rays is capable of hitting a home run.

When the pitching is on, the other team has no chance. This team isn’t going to be going away anytime soon because they are so young.

It’s not a stretch to start using the word dynasty.

When you combine it together it makes for the best story in recent baseball history.

A team with youth and inexperience can still succeed and make it to the end. Other teams will no doubt see the Rays success as a confidence booster and a model to succeed. It took the Rays long enough, but with good drafting and team management anything is possible. Gone are the for sure favorite teams like the Red Sox who load themselves with experience over youth.

Take a look at the teams about to unleash their fury like the Texas Rangers and possibly the Houston Astros next year.

If Kansas City can keep their pitching staff together, watch out.

In the near future it’s very likely that experience will certainly help, but it certainly won’t have as much meaning as in the past. Now youth can successfully triumph over experience.
